Elizabeth (Bette) is a Chemistry PhD student at Stanford. She received her B.A. in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of San Diego. Bette is interested in the interface between surfaces and studies membrane fusion in the lab of Steven Boxer. Her PhD work focuses on understanding membrane fusion between enveloped viruses and model membranes. Specifically, she is interested in characterizing membrane fusion for well-studied and emerging enveloped viruses such as Influenza and Zika Virus. Bette is supported by the NSF-GRFP. She is a Stanford VPTL consultant, a Mentors in Teaching (MinT) Fellow, and a SPLASH instructor. Outside of lab, Bette is an avid hiker and long distance runner.
