Kolade Adebowale, a third-year chemical engineering PhD student and member of the second CBI cohort, has received a teaching award for his work as a teaching assistant in fall 2017. Along with Prof. James Schwartz and other TAs, Kolade taught Stanford junior and senior undergraduates in CHEMENG 150: Biochemical Engineering. The course combines chemical engineering concepts with biological principles and covers topics such as the production of protein pharmaceuticals, recombinant DNA technology, synthetic biology and metabolic engineering, fermentation development and control, protein folding and formulation, and biobusiness and regulatory issues. Kolade, who is also a graduate student researcher in CBI faculty mentor Ovijit Chaudhuri's lab, was nominated for the award by students in the class.
