Arjun Aditham

Fordyce Lab

As an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, Arjun studied the bacterial cell wall in Professor Carolyn Bertozzi's laboratory. In leading his own project, he saw the power of chemistry to approach and answer biological questions in uniquely subtle and precise ways. Attracted by Stanford’s interdisciplinary environment and the establishment of ChEM-H, Arjun is pursuing a PhD in the Bioengineering department, where he hopes to strengthen my training and research at the Chemistry/Biology Interface.

As part of Stanford ChEM-H and the Bioengineering department, Arjun intends to continue exploring life at the molecular level. He is particularly interested in engineering proteins to study aspects of biology, such as the genome and how it works to regulate gene expression, and to catalyze novel reactions to help create new therapeutics. In the future, Arjun hopes to leverage his experiences to expand our understanding of how biological processes work, especially how these processes can go awry, and aims to channel this mechanistic knowledge into developing robust and innovative treatments for human diseases.
