Chemistry Stanford ChEM-H Sarafan Graduate Fellow

Cassandra Decosto

I am interested in contributing to the development of novel therapeutics and medicinal methods for human diseases, especially cancer. Specifically, I hope to create a more interdisciplinary research environment by incorporating bioinorganic chemistry in the development of innovative therapies. This approach can provide an array of new research methods ranging from the development of more efficient metalloproteins to preventing possible clinical errors when these therapeutics are being used. Furthermore, exploring issues present in therapeutics such as the drug resistance crisis that we are currently facing is also of interest. Investigating this problem can open doors to the development of more long-lasting and efficient treatments that are critical to human health. To find answers to these questions it is critical to eliminate barriers within research disciplines to create an environment where research truly thrives and that is what the ChEM-H CBI program provides.
