Chemistry CBI Cohort 1 Alumni

Tim Horton

Tim grew up in southwest Arkansas and decided to engage in a career in science after studying at Ouachita Baptist University and completing a double major in Chemistry and Physics with minors in Mathematics and Biology. His interest in developing chemical agents to improve human health arose from two summers of research, one with Marty Perry at Ouachita Baptist University on chiral drug metabolism, and the other studying ZAP-70 and Syk inhibition as an Howard Hughes Medical Institute EXROP fellow with John Kuriyan at UC-Berkeley. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry as a student in the lab of Justin Annes, M.D., Ph.D. Tim is currently interested in developing a beta-cell regenerative therapeutic in order to treat diabetes. Outside of lab, Tim enjoys hiking with his wife and watching basketball.
